Ellen MacArthur, Chevron and fire hoses

One Planet

Available for over a year

Dame Ellen MacArthur is famous for her round the world solo voyages. But last summer she quit studying weather patterns to focus on reinventing the business cycles our companies operate to. This week Mike sites down with her to discuss how better to manage our world's resources. Hear her explain why Planet Earth will thank you for renting your floor tiles - that may sound flippant - but tune in and I'm sure she'll get you thinking. Also in the show, we go to Ecuador to investigate the latest court judgement made against oil giant Chevron for allegedly polluting large swathes of the Amazon rainforest. It's one of the longest ever running environmental court battles. And it's not over yet, Chevron strongly deny the allegations, while those affected claim the court settlement is not large enough. Plus we've got a round up of environmental and development news from China, and Mike learns about turning fire hoses into designer handbags.
