Today, one in twenty children are born with genetic defects as a result of the blasts. British film-maker Antony Butts has been to meet some of those affected. KILI CLIMBERS Kenyan Frederick Ouko had polio as a child and has been on crutches ever since; his Ugandan team-mate, Florence Ndagire, was born blind.
