Belfast-Nashville Songwriters Festival

A Kist o Wurds

Available for over a year

Liam Logan catches up with Colin McGee, Director of Pan-Arts, the major organiser of the Belfast - Nashville Songwriters Festival which is now in its second year. Colin says they are trying to link local songwriters with professionals from Nashville and to celebrate the Sister Cities link. They’ve run a song-writing competition with three strands: English, Irish and Ulster-Scots and we hear the Ulster-Scots winner, Jim Ferry performing his track ‘Mary McGee’. Colin talks about the various events planned over the 5-day Festival including ‘More than Words’ - a community outreach programme which encourages people to use words from all three languages.
