David and Goliath in the Scots language

A Kist o Wurds

Available for over a year

There’ve been many attempts over the years to translate the Bible into different languages. Glasgow man, Jamie Stewart, is in Belfast at Townsend Street Presbyterian Church, up the Shankill Road, with his own version. Jamie reads from ‘A Glasgow Bible’ - the story of David and Goliath: and tells Liam that he has combined the four gospels into one dramatic version which he has been performing over the years. He discusses Lorimer’s version which is an ancient, true good Scots tongue; but Jamie says hiw own version is more accessible to the ordinary person although still done in a very respectful way. His book is available from the St Andrews Press. (Broadcast: 12 Feb 2006)
