Rajan Datar talks to the man who has overall responsibility for trails on the World Service, Murray Holgate – and puts to him some of the many complaints the programme has received about trails. The prevailing view is that there are too many of them, they are too repetitive, and that some programmes are trailed far too far ahead of their broadcast date – so Rajan asks Murray to answer his critics. And BBC correspondent Charles Haviland tells Rajan about the censorship of journalists in Sri Lanka, where he’s based.
