Kai Eide, Former UN Special Representative to Afghanistan

The Interview Archive

Available for over a year

Kai Eide was the UN's Special Representative to Afghanistan until earlier this month. On The Interview with Lyse Doucet he talks about his two years in Kabul, the ongoing talks he had with prominent Taliban leaders over political and humanitarian issues. He's also strongly critical of Pakistan for its recent arrest of Taliban leaders which shut down these channels of communication. Kai Eide says it is a setback to finding a lasting solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.
