Bart Layton, the director of new film Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry, tells Len about the significance of the cars for his status-chasing characters in his LA-based movie, and what it was like moving from his award-winning documentary films into Hollywood movies with mega-stars. John Doyle has worked in operas, theatres and musicals, where he has won awards for his pioneering approach with productions including Sweeney Todd, in which the actors are also the musicians. He talks about his first book Opening Doors: Reimagining the American Musical, which reflects on his 50-year career working with the likes of Stephen Sondheim and Cynthia Erivo, and his thoughts on efficiency in theatre-making translating to accessibility for the audience. Carla J Easton's first single in three years, Oh Yeah, is Len's choice for her weekly Arts Mixtape celebrating new Scottish music. Carla tells Len about her upcoming album, I Think That I Might Love You, and her musical collaborations, including performing with The Vaselines and Hen Hoose, and learning a new instrument to perform on her record.
