Squeeze perform alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra from BBC Maida Vale studios for Radio 2’s Piano Room Month. Founded in 1974, Squeeze's leading duo Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook were hailed as "the heirs to Lennon and McCartney's throne" after having hits such as Cool For Cats and Up The Junction towards the end of the decade. The band are now revisiting that era with the upcoming album Trixies, their first in eight years and comprising of songs written at the very start of Chris and Glenn's songwriting career. They have described these songs as ones that, at the time, they didn't have the musical experience to record properly, but fifty years later they rediscovered the original cassette and have now recorded them for commercial release. Squeeze said: “We’re excited to be back at Maida Vale studios as it’s such an iconic BBC building with so much history. Playing with the BBC Concert Orchestra will be a real thrill, something we’re looking forward to.” Back for its fifth year, Radio 2 Piano Room Month sees globally-famous, award-winning artists perform three tracks - a new song, one of their well-known numbers, and an unexpected cover version - all accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra. A BBC Audio production for BBC Radio 2.
