Joshua Burnside in session

Stephen McCauley

Available for 24 days

Joshua Burnside recorded live in session. Joshua Burnside is one of the most revered songwriters on this island. His voice has the lilt of a traditional fiddle; his lyrics, the subtle authority of a poet and his melodies, a gentle oscillation between melancholy and reassurance. Joshua’s previous album, last year’s “Teeth of Time”, has been nominated for numerous awards and was written in the context of becoming a father. His new album was written while he mourned the death of his best friend. It will be released on the 20th of March and it’s called “It’s Not Going To Be Okay”. Joined by regular collaborators Zara Byrne-McCullough and Dan Byrne-McCullough, Joshua recorded a session as part of our Blackstaff Session series. He also chats to Stephen about the session, the new album and The X-Files. Also, on this week’s episode, Stephen plays a few songs for Valentine’s Day and reflects on World Radio Day 2026.
