Live from Strings on the Isle of Wight for Independent Venue Week

Steve Lamacq

Expires on Wednesday 7:00pm

In support of this week's Independent Venue Week, Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens are live from Strings on the Isle of Wight to celebrate and raise awareness of grass roots venues, the people that run them and the artists that play there. In today's special programme, Huw heads to AAA Records to find out about the scene on the island and what is selling in their store. Plus, we chat to the team behind Strings to discuss the landscape for local live music venues, we also hear from Platform One, the Isle of Wight’s creative arts college where Wet Leg first formed, and from BBC Introducing in Solent to shine a light on the next wave of local talent. Alongside all this, Isle of Wight legend Rob Da Bank joins to talk about the Island's festival history and his own Rob da Bank Music Club which aims to offer a space for creativity, and opportunity to young people on the island aged 11–18. Plus, live music from one of the bands at the forefront of the island’s scene - Coach Party will join and play live for us from Strings to end the programme.
