Dames Brown drop by the studio

The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show

Available for 27 days

Detroit vocal trio Dames Brown drop by the show, following the release of their long-awaited debut album ‘Take Me As I Am’. A powerful, soulful record rooted in the musical heartbeat of Detroit, the album is both a celebration of the city’s legacy and a tribute to the late Amp Fiddler, who mentored the group and helped shape the project at his home studio. Made up of Athena Johnson, Teresa Marbury and LaRae Starr, Dames Brown draw on gospel, classic soul, funk and R&B, channelling the spirit of Motown, Parliament Funkadelic and Aretha Franklin while sounding firmly of now. The trio will be putting down a 30-minute Trunk of Funk mix, packed with deep soul, rich grooves and pure Detroit energy.
