President Trump has been widely criticised for claiming that NATO troops had "stayed a little back off the front lines" during the war in Afghanistan. The Labour MP, Dame Emily Thornberry, called his remarks an insult to the 457 British service personnel killed in the conflict. 32 of those soldiers were Welsh.
