Oliver Hides takes your calls on corridor care in hospitals, paying for news and the unexplained.
The Phone InAvailable for 24 days
The Royal College of Nursing in Wales is warning that patients and staff are continuing to be put at risk of corridor care in hospitals. They say they have seen examples of patients being left in hospital chairs for up to four days. Nurses giving testimony to the Royal College of Emergency Medicine say it is ‘distressing, damning and exactly what we see every single day in our departments’. The Welsh government say that care in undesignated environments is ‘unacceptable’, and that they have invested £200m of additional funding this year to ensure patients receive the right care. Have you or your loved one ever been treated in a hospital corridor? WalesOnline is set to implement a paywall – meaning users will be invited to pay £4.99 a month to access certain articles. Previously all content on the website was free to view. A subscription to ‘WalesOnline Premium’ promises extra articles, less adverts, a daily news digest and a range of puzzles. Research from Reuters in 2025 showed that 10% of people in the UK pay for online news. But should online news services be free for all? And a Radio Wales listener has got in touch with the Phone In to tell us about a strange sight he saw in Cardiff’s nighttime sky. Gary in Rumney claims to have seen an object the length of two railway carriages pass over the BBC building late at night. So have you ever seen something you just can’t explain? Call or WhatsApp 03700 100 110, or Text 8 10 12. Be part of the nations' conversation.
