Tennis player and presenter Sue Barker joins Vernon to choose her Tracks Of My Years - ten songs that tell the story of her life and career to date. Her selections include songs by George Benson, Heather Small and Black Sabbath. Born in 1956 in Devon, Sue began playing tennis at an early age with her older sister Jane. After being scouted by former Wimbledon winner Angela Mortimer, Sue moved to the US at 17 to join the women’s tennis circuit. In her tennis career, Sue reached the heights of world number three, won the French Open (1976 – aged 20) and reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 1977. She retired from professional tennis at the age of 29, and through a lucky phone call, took her first presenting job with Channel 7 in Australia. In 1993, she joined the BBC, and for thirty years fronted the coverage of Wimbledon, until 2022. She also hosted long-running quiz show A Question of Sport for 24 years. Later this year, she's back on the road with her former A Question Of Sport colleagues Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell, for Sue, Matt & Phil Live! Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 2.
