Georgia Mann presents the final programme in her Winter series celebrating the musical talents of Radio 3's New Generation Artists. Today there's joyous Haydn from both the Astatine Trio and the Kleio Quartet and the flautist, Elizaveta Ivanova plays a lyrical work by the once-popular German composer Sigfrid Karg-Elert. Also today, Uruguay-born tenor Santiago Sánchez introduces audiences at the Oxford International Song Festival to some art songs from South America, including the first performance in modern times of 'The Wheat Field' by the remarkable Carmen Barradas. And, to round off this Winter series, the twenty-two year-old saxophonist Emma Rawicz assembled an all-star line-up at the BBC's Maida Vale studios to play one of her latest tracks. The distinguished list of alumni now numbers many of the most exciting musicians working on the world stage today.
