Oliver Hides takes your calls on misogyny in schools, BBC funding and non-fiction books.

The Phone In

Available for 4 days

Teachers in England are to be given training to spot the signs of misogyny and tackle it in the classroom. It’s part of the UK Government's strategy to halve violence against women and girls within the next decade. The plans focus on preventing the radicalisation of young men. Pupils will be taught about issues such as consent, the dangers of sharing intimate images, and how to identify positive role models. Would you welcome a similar initiative here in Wales? How should the BBC be funded in future? The current BBC charter expires at the end of 2027, and the Government claims to be considering a range of possible options. These could include advertising, subscription, and a household levy. But it’s also possible that the current licence fee model could be retained for the time being. And do you love to read non-fiction books? A recent report has found that non-fiction sales have slipped by over 8% in a 12 month period. This decline is nearly double that of paperback fiction sales, with escapism trumping realism. But if you do love a biography, essay or journal, let us know which titles you’ve enjoyed recently.
