Tom Service hosts a Christmas party! Whether you're wrapping presents, hitting the shops or getting ahead with the sprouts, Tom has the best classical playlist and the biggest stars to start your festive weekend. Stars don't get much bigger at the moment than the organist Anna Lapwood. An organist, conductor and advocate - Gramophone calls her ‘the dream ambassador for classical music’ and she was voted into The Sunday Times Young Power List, celebrating the 30 most powerful people under 30 in the UK. Whether she's performing classical music, film scores or brand new works for the organ or choir, her deep joy in making music shines through. On top of that she's a social media sensation who is almost single-handedly bringing the instrument to new ears and making the organ cool again. Tom and Anna settle down for a chat about all things organ, her plans for the new year and maybe a few Christmas surprises. Meanwhile, in the studio all morning are the young dynamic choir Siglo de Oro - known for their adventurous arrangements and glorious voices - they'll be singing some of their favourite festive tunes and talking to Tom about their busiest time of year. This year Snoopy and Peanuts, Charles Schulz's beloved cartoon characters, are celebrating their 75th birthday. Their iconic Christmas episode 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' which also turns 60 this December, features one of the great Christmas soundtracks by the jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi. Over the years it has become the second-bestselling jazz title in history and is an essential part of many people's Christmas listening. Tom talks to Benjamin Clark from the Schulz Museum and pianist Jamie Cullum to pay tribute to the classic album. And this time last year the London Vegetable Orchestra popped into the Saturday studio for Christmas to make some instruments, play some carols and spread legumey cheer, so they're back to do the same and talk about their last year in which they broke social media and made a carrot recorder for a King. To listen on most smart speakers just say 'Ask BBC Sounds to play Saturday Morning'.
