The annual Christmas around Europe day: a nine-hour celebration in a feast of concerts which take us across European destinations including Denmark, Finland, Austria, Spain, Germany, Latvia and the UK. Every year classical music radio stations from across Europe come together to celebrate Christmas with a series of concerts from around the continent. Featuring special performances of Christmas music, the celebration covers a wide variety of music. This nine-hour celebration promises to be a journey of discovery to delight the ears and inspire the soul. Presented by Andrew McGregor. 1200 Copenhagen, Denmark. Christmas with The Danish National Vocal Ensemble and conductor Marcus Creed. With Christmas music from the Renaissance to the present day. 1300 Vienna, Austria. Italian Baroque at Christmas time with the Gabetta Consort featuring music by Vivaldi and Marcello. 1400 Madrid, Spain. Iberian Jubilate with Cantoría vocal ensemble. Inspired by the liturgical shout of jubilation that embodies the 'Jubilate', this concert intertwines spirituality and human joy with religious and secular works from the Iberian Renaissance, including the much-loved Spanish traditional carol Riu Riu Chiu.
