Cerys presents your Sunday sonic and cultural adventure, with multi Grammy award winning American singer Sierra Ferrell in session and Edward Brooke-Hitching on music curiosities. Sierra Ferrell is an American singer-songwriter and musician from West Virginia. Her musical journey began in childhood, playing clarinet and singing choir in school, eventually learning to play guitar. In her early twenties, she adopted a nomadic lifestyle, hitch-hiking, freighthopping, and living in her van, with the majority of her time spent busking between Seattle and New Orleans. By this point, she'd turned her attention towards playing folk music and its various offshoots. She self-released two albums, before signing to Rounder Records in 2019. At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, her album 'Trail of Flowers' was awarded Best Americana Album, with 'American Dreaming' winning Best Americana Performance and Best American Roots Song, and 'Lighthouse' winning Best American Roots Performance. Edward Brooke-Hitching is a bestselling author and former BBC QI Elf, known for his well researched books exploring the quirks of history and culture. His latest work, The Madman’s Orchestra, was published in October and offers a collection of the greatest curiosities from the history of music. Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 6 Music
