‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades. Soweto’s guest from Monday to Thursday this week for Flowers is South London pianist, producer and multi-instrumentalist DoomCannon, also known as Dominic Canning. A formidable bandleader and composer, he is a core part of the London jazz community where notable projects have included TriForce, Project Karnak, as well as his own solo career. DoomCannon was also a founding member of Steam Down, and is part of Brit award-winning singer Celeste's band, where he acted as her musical director for the award performance, and for her appearance on Later with Jools Holland. DoomCannon’s new album “Somewhere In Between” is out now. To begin his Flowers week, DoomCannon chooses to spotlight a leading Armenian pianist that he is inspired by. There’s also music from MATTERS UNKNOWN, Claudia Burson Trio, and Don Cherry and Latif Khan. To listen on most smart speakers just say "Ask BBC Sounds to play Round Midnight".
