Hamas says its political leader Ismail Haniyeh has been killed in an Israeli attack in the Iranian capital, hours after a Hezbollah commander was blown up in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. The twin assassinations risk escalating the conflict in the Middle East. Speaking tonight, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was "prepared for any scenario". The Culture Secretary has called an urgent meeting with the BBC’s director general over the handling of the Huw Edwards case, with the meeting expected to take place tomorrow.
