Trees

The Essay

Available for over a year

Sit back and listen to the sounds of wild Poland - the wetlands and forests rich with wildlife recorded by Izabela Dłuzyk. In this episode we're in the Bialowieza primeval forest that's half in the far east of Poland and half in Belarus. The forest is one of the last stretches of the ancient forest that once spread across the whole European plain. Some of the oak trees there are many centuries old. Numberless generations of birds and animals have lived up in their branches and below in their undergrowth. In this episode we’ll hear the sounds of the trees themselves. Recorded and presented by Izabela Dłuzyk. Produced by Monica Whitlock. Mixed by Tom Brignell.
