Snakes in Ancient Egypt

Science Cafe

Available for over a year

Adam Walton finds out all about venomous snakes in ancient Egypt. Joining him on the show are two researchers from Bangor University: Professor Wolfgang Wüster and Dr Isabelle Winder, who, by combining ancient texts with current technology, are exploring the diversity of venomous snakes found across Egypt over time. We also visit the Swansea Egypt Centre, where Curator Ken Griffin, describes how important, feared, and revered snakes were in antiquity. Produced by Stuart Russell.
