Portas Towns; Royal Mail Delays; Rental Scam

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Ten years after the government's big 'high street' review which looked at twelve "Portas Towns" after Mary Portas was brought in to spearhead the review, You and Yours has gone back to see what's changed in some of those towns and what direction they're headed in now. In the first of our series Sam Fenwick reports from Margate. Christmas might be around the corner but some people aren't getting their Christmas cards due to delays to Royal Mail deliveries in parts of the country. We hear from a resident in the village of High Easter in Essex, and Mike McCusker, a Salford Councillor who lives in Eccles, who have both had almost no post for a month. We try to find out why. As demand for rental properties continues to grow, there has been a 45% increase in reports of social media rental fraud in the past year according to Action Fraud. Sam Fenwick hears from people who have experienced this type of fraud in action and she talks to Alison Farrar from the National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team about what to look out for. Producer: Catherine Earlam Presenter: Sam Fenwick
