Clarks Strike; Cyber Detective Kids; WhatsApp Scam

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Shoemaker Clarks was founded in the Somerset town of Street by two Quaker brothers in 1825. The company was known for being well ahead of their time when it came to looking after their workforce. However, for the past six weeks workers at the company's distribution centre in Street have been on strike - opposing new contracts which were introduced after Clarks published losses of 180 million pounds earlier this year. Our reporter Shari Vahl is in West Yorkshire visiting a primary school that is helping its students spot online scams. The new course is called Cyber Detectives and is part of the Personal Social and Economic Education curriculum or PSHE , and after a successful pilot so far 3000 schools have downloaded the teaching pack . And WhatsApp have partnered with Trading Standards’ and Citizens Advice for a new campaign to remind people about the dangers of message scams. We will be speaking to them about what they want users to do to protect themselves as messaging fraud is on the rise. Presenter: Peter White Producer: Catherine Earlam
