Call You and Yours: Have you been affected by a scam? Email [email protected] and leave your number so we can contact you. BBC Radio 4's You and Yours programme was recognised recently by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute for its significant contribution to consumer protection in the UK. Over many years, the programme has reported on the activities of criminals who try to steal people's money through scams and fraud. One of the most common kinds of scam is carried out by phone, when people are cold-called at home or on their mobile, or contacted by text. Using a variety of tricks, scammers lead people to give away personal details that allows criminals to steal their money. In some scams, people are conned into moving their money directly into criminals' accounts. The techniques used by the scammers are sophisticated and often change. They can sound very convincing indeed. Sometimes, even people with an understanding of how criminals work have fallen into their traps. Today on Call You and Yours we are asking - have you been affected by a phone scam? Tell us what happened. We are keen to hear your experience. Email [email protected] and leave your number, so we can contact you. From 11.00am on Tuesday 26th October, you can call us direct on 03700 100 444. Producer: Simon Hoban Presenter: Winifred Robinson
