Young Gambling, New-look road crossings, Luxury Repairs

You and Yours

Available for over a year

There are new designs for road crossings being trialled in Liverpool that hopefully might make people concentrate more on their surroundings. Its hoped the bright colours and swirling patterns will force people to stop staring at their mobile phones and think before they step off the kerb. But what do people really think of them? We're out in Liverpool to find out. Now just like great works of art, expensive designer clothes, shoes and bags are being repaired and restored as luxury brands are teaming up with repair services. It's part of the general move towards using and wasting less by making things last. We speak to one company who are experiencing a big rise in interest for their services... A report into the quality of housing in England has concluded that one in ten homes contain a hazard so dangerous that the residents health or safety is at risk. Four million homes fail to meet basic standards of habitable decency and over half of them are lived in by people over the age of 55. The vast majority of problem homes are owner occupier. We speak to one resident who's health has suffered as a consequence of poor living conditions. As the new academic year gets well underway, many students moving away for the first time will be trying new things for the first time, including gambling. According to research by the Gambling Commission, young people are the most susceptible to experiencing gambling harm after achieving independence from parents. We explore whether starting gambling at university can lead to serious issues later in life.
