House with a Garden; Noise Disputes; Mobile Home Theft

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Searches for houses and flats with gardens have shot up by more than 60% in the last year. That's according to research from Rightmove. Other property sites are seeing similar trends. We hear from Emma Shone from the magazine Property Week. She and her partner are buying their first house and have been amazed by the fierce competition for homes with gardens. We also speak to Miles Shipside, the founding director of Rightmove. Noisy neighbours come in many different shapes and sizes. We hear from a listener who, after many sleepless nights, had to take drastic action to muffle the piercing sounds of her nearest neighbours. We examine what people locked in a dispute can do if they want to move and we ask Beth Rudolf from the Conveyancing Association how much homeowners have to reveal if they decide to sell their house. This afternoon, two men will finally be sentenced for the theft of a campaigner's mobile home. In November 2017, Sonia McColl's home was stolen from a haulage yard in Devon. It was in the process of being moved to a new site after Sonia was intimidated in her old spot by those wanting to stop her campaigning for better rights for mobile home owners. She was left homeless for a year. We speak to Sonia about her four year wait for justice and how the ordeal has coloured every aspect of her life. Presenter: Peter White Producer: Tara Holmes
