Instead she rewards her by taking her on an eerie journey to the underworld in search of the answer to whether Anwen's mother who is in hospital will live or die. She's lived in Germany and Japan, and is now based in Cardiff. She won the inaugural New Welsh Writing Award in 2015 for her memoir of Hokkaido, Woman Who Brings the Rain, which was later shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year 2016.
