Gift Card Scam, Pubs Reopening, CBD Oil

You and Yours

Available for over a year

You & Yours continues to investigate gift card scams - where individuals are targeted and convinced to visit multiple retailers and purchase gift cards worth hundreds of pounds. Retailers are aware of these scams, and have policies in place to limit spend and warn customers they may be a victim of fraud. But this programme has found cases where retailers have failed to do this and then refuse refunds even when the cards haven't been used. This month pubs and restaurants with outdoor space will have the opportunity to reopen for business. In England it's from the 12th April, and expected to be from the 26th April in Wales and Scotland. Northern Ireland has not yet set a date for when hospitality can begin again. Over a third of licensed premises in the UK have outdoor space they could use, according to analysts CGA and AlixPartners. There are big differences across the country, over half of businesses serving alcohol in the South West have outdoor space. In London its a third, and in Scotland only a fifth. We talk to two business owners about whether they'll open their beer gardens this month. CBD, or cannabis oil, is one of the fastest growing food supplements in the UK. Manufacturers of these products will now have to apply to the Food Standards Agency for approval to be sold in the UK. The oil comes from cannabis plants, but should not contain THC, which is the active ingredient in marijuana. Many people buy CBD oil because they feel it helps with pain, anxiety and stress but there are concerns that some products aren't what they claim to be. We look at how new regulation of the market will work. Presented by Peter White. Produced by Beatrice Pickup.
