How welcome are tourists in the UK this summer?

You and Yours

Available for over a year

With holidays to Spain banned and a heatwave on the way, people who used to go abroad will be tempted to spend their holiday money closer to home this year. So how ready are the UK's tourist hotspots that were so recently locked down - and how welcome will tourists on a 'staycation' be made to feel? Our most popular destinations - such as the Lake District, Devon and Cornwall - are reporting a big influx of UK holidaymakers putting pressure on roads and other local facilities. Meanwhile, the sheer numbers of people sunbathing on beaches like Brighton and Bournemouth has caused concerns about social distancing, and have made national news headlines. So are tourists REALLY welcome in the UK this summer? What's been your experience? We'd like to hear from you as we enter the height of the British summer. Email us now please - [email protected] and do include your telephone number so that we can get back to you. And you can call us from 11am on 03700 100 444 Presenter: Winifred Robinson Producer: Craig Henderson
