FE colleges, Disabled housing, Cardboard tents

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Some further education colleges are under severe financial pressure and some are being forced to close multi-million pound campuses. The government recently stopped bailing out struggling colleges and started allowing them to go into administration. We speak to people in the sector about the impacts on students and staff. Many disabled people are unable to find homes with even basic accessible features like grab rails, that would allow them to live independent lives. That's according to research from the housing charity, Habinteg, which says poor planning by councils is a large part of the problem. Vast numbers of cheap tents are thrown away by campers after festivals, adding to plastic waste. However, a Dutch company thinks it has found the solution: recyclable cardboard tents. We ask the founder of KarTent how it works and if it will keep people dry. Presenter: Winifred Robinson Producer: Harry Kretchmer
