Charity complaints, Consumer spending, Wine shops

You and Yours

Available for over a year

The UK's biggest charities have received more than 20,000 complaints about how they fundraise. According to the latest figures from the Fundraising Regulator, the biggest areas of concern are door step selling and direct mail. We speak to the regulator's Chief Executive, Gerald Oppenheim. Shoppers are spending less at supermarket tills, despite inflation. The figures, from market research company Nielsen, show average weekly spending on groceries is now just over £70 per household, the lowest level since October 2017. We ask why there has been such a fall in spending. Wine shops have had a torrid few years. Many have closed on the high street and recently the industry's largest specialist retailer, Majestic, announced it would be closing some stores and focusing on its online business. So where next for the wine shop? We visit Clitheroe in Lancashire in search of answers. Presenter: Melanie Abbott Producer: Harry Kretchmer
