For our weekly phone in we want to hear if people are being exploited by the sale of fertility treatments. The chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA), Sally Cheshire says IVF clinics are exploiting older women and "trading on hope", with those seeking motherhood later in life being targeted by increasingly aggressive sales tactics. She also says some centres are charging four times as much as they should for treatment, and says it is now time for the regulator to be given more power over pricing. New figures show that since 2004, the number of women in their 40s undergoing fertility treatment has doubled, with 10,835 cases in 2017. But the statistics reveal that among those using their own eggs, just 75 women aged 42 to 43 will end up with a baby, unless using eggs frozen when they were younger.
