Call You and Yours - How has adoption changed your life?

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Call You & Yours - How has adoption changed your life? Every year in the UK, around 5,500 children are adopted. But there are currently around twice as many children looking for a family as adopters looking for a child. Public campaigns have urged more people, from a wider variety of backgrounds, to consider adopting, but there is still a shortage of potential adopters. Most adoptions are successful, but a small number of cases end in failure, with the child taken back into care. The charity, Adoption UK, thinks as many as a quarter of all adoptive families are in need of professional help to keep the family unit together. Specialist therapy is available for adoptive children, to help them settle with their new family. But some experts believe that more support is needed for families that are struggling. Tell us how adoption has changed your life. If you were adopted or if you're an adoptive parent or if you gave up your child for adoption, what is your experience? Did you get the support you needed? Email us now - [email protected] and leave a phone number so we can contact you. From 11am on Tuesday 16th October, call us on 03700 100444. And join us for Call You & Yours at 12.15pm Producer: Jonathan Hallewell Presenter: Winifred Robinson
