Teen starts petition for more fun things in Stratford

Available for over a year

A Stratford teen has called on his local council to provide more free entertainment for young people in his home town. Thirteen-year-old Joshua lives in Stratford-upon-Avon and says that unless young people are interested in going on walks, hanging around fast food restaurants or spending money at shopping centres, there is little to keep a teenager entertained. He has launched an online petition which has already received hundreds of signatures. In a statement, Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council said: "We support a range of activities and events that benefit children and young people, including community events and cultural activities, and we liaise with partner organisations who provide youth provision. As with any resident of the town, Joshua would be very welcome to attend a Town Council meeting and raise his ideas and concerns directly with the elected Members during the public participation period. This provides an opportunity for Members to hear views firsthand and to consider how they may be taken forward, either by the Town Council or with partner organisations."
