TSB fraud, Private doctors online, Internet images

You and Yours

Available for over a year

Senior figures at TSB face more tough questions from MPs today over their continuing IT crisis. It began when the bank shut down services for two days from the evening of Friday 20th April, to move customer data on to a new computer system. But alongside failures in customer service, the IT crisis has also left people more vulnerable to fraud. You & Yours recently revealed how one TSB customer watched thousands of pounds in wedding savings being stolen from his internet account as he waited on hold for the bank's fraud department to answer his call. Others are continuing to report problems getting through to the fraud department. Today, the bank's chief executive Paul Pester will be questioned by MPs on the Treasury Select Committee. Doctors' leaders are concerned about a new service which offers video appointments with a private GP, via a mobile phone. Babylon, the company behind a controversial online NHS GP service in London, has struck a deal with the mobile phone giant Samsung, to pre-install their app on to their new phones. It could give millions of people easy access to the new private GP service. Users will be able to check symptoms or arrange video consultations for a fee of £50 a year or £25 for a one-off appointment. The British Medical Association's Dr Richard Vautrey has told You & Yours that NHS GP services could be undermined if private services like this are widely taken up. Many people make use of images found on the internet, from children illustrating school projects, to people creating a presentation at work. But one You & Yours listener shares a cautionary tale about copyright, after receiving a hefty bill for using a single small image he found online.
