Amy Gear graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art, but after two years in London, she was adamant she wanted to return to live and work on her native Shetland. The landscape, language and Norse legends inform her identity as an artist but the realities of trying to make a living in a remote part of the world mean she has to take a collaborative approach to her work, and be adaptable. That means running art projects in schools and care homes while she tries to set up a studio space for herself and other artists. "It's not the most romantic thing to say, but being an artist now is about being a project manager and being able to do a budget". Producer: Maggie Ayre.
