Apprenticeships for young people in England aren't delivering the promised training and opportunities. That's according to the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission. It says too many are in sectors with poor pay and prospects - childcare, retail and hairdressing and they don't offer young people a foundation to build on. Applications are flat-lining just as the government is taxing businesses to pay for millions of new training places. Winifred Robinson asks: Are apprenticeships worth it? What's your experience - as an employer or an apprentice? Email [email protected]. The phone number when we're on-air is 03 700 100 444.
