The first edition of Woman's Hour was broadcast on October 7th 1946. It aimed to meet the needs of busy listeners with a "daily programme of music, advice and entertainment for the home". The programme has evolved to reflect the interests of its listeners - a magazine on everything about women and of interest to them, presenting the women's perspective and women speakers.
