A new EU ruling means that parents in Britain will be able to request up to 18 weeks of unpaid leave until their child's 18th birthday (it was previously until their child's fifth birthday). So are teen years a time when parental support is needed more? And how understanding are workplaces of requests for leave or flexible working from parents of older children?
