Adam Riches tells the story of Martin, an audience member from London. He started the evening as an unsuspecting software developer, but ended it as the greatest explorer ever to walk the earth. As Martin battles to be the first man to reach the "Third Pole", he is faced by many challenges, including a rival team of Norwegians, led inexplicably by the German filmmaker, Werner Herzog.
