Will the Paralympics challenge negative stereotypes around disability?

You and Yours

Available for over a year

On Call You and Yours tomorrow we'll be asking if the Paralympics will make a difference in attitudes towards people with a disability? In a survey published just before the Games four in 10 people said they thought the Government is not doing enough to support people with disabilities. Ministers have been accused of hypocrisy for talking up the Paralympic Games at the same time as implementing sweeping changes to the welfare state. Three-quarters of people surveyed thought that people with disabilities often experience prejudice or discrimination in society, while almost the same proportion think disabled people are invisible in the media outside the Paralympics. What do you think? Will the Paralympics challenge negative stereotypes? 03700 100 400 is the phone number to call or you can e-mail via the Radio 4 website or text us on 84844. Join me at four minutes past twelve tomorrow.
