They discuss urban environment and crime; what makes an urban area disorderly and dangerous? How does it acquire such a reputation? Can it ever be dispelled? DEMOGRAPHY OF DEATH Dr Leigh Shaw-Taylor Deputy Director of the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure will be giving a talk at the Cambridge Festival of Ideas Called entitled A Short History of Death; Allan Kellehear, Professor of Sociology at the University of Bath is the author of A Social History of Dying. They address the history of human lifespan in Britain, and how the causes of death have changed overtime.
