WOMEN AND GAMBLING Laurie Taylor talks to Emma Casey, Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Kingston about her research findings into women’s gambling experiences and the ways in which these experiences are integrated with their everyday lives. CLEANLINESS Virginia Smith is the author of a new book entitled Clean: A History of Personal Hygiene and Purity. She is joined by anthropologist, Adam Kuper, to discuss her contention that our striving throughout history for personal cleanliness has brought great social benefits as well as great tragedies.
