Sunrise Celebration 2007: Day 4

On the final day of the festival, Louise met Mr Elliphant and his albino peacocks.

I woke up Sunday morning even worse than I felt on Saturday night. The hay fever had taken hold, so my eyes had puffed up, my head was blocked and my throat was tight. I felt really bad.

We had to leave Sunday (which I was disappointed about because I wanted to stay to watch Dreadzone that night). I was also annoyed because I felt that I had missed out on a chance of having a proper look at some of the other sights of the festival that I had come across previously.

Places like the Being Human Cinema, the Invisible Circus for adults only and trying out being a Burlesque performer, listening to the storytellers in the Tipi Village, spending more time in the Fish Seeks Bicycle tent.

However, I did have the pleasure of coming across Mr Elliphant and his albino peacocks, and the 8-foot neon Cerne Abbas giant, UV Faerie stilt walkers, a travelling swan and numerous fire Poi performers.

All in all I had a good time at Sunrise, and I learnt a few things along the way, about a different way of living and a little bit more about myself as a person.

A few things made me think about what I am doing in the world… after all the main theme of the event is sustainability and social responsibility, which is one agenda that seems uppermost these days in our everyday lives.

It was a very well-organised event, all the crew and stewards worked hard to make what I think was a great success.

The organisers, Family Gathering, should be proud of their achievements, and it has been a boost to get the backing from Glastonbury’s Michael Eavis.

Therefore, I would like to personally thank everyone involved, including the Walters family who own Bearley Farm right down to the people who spent their weekend enjoying Sunrise with me.

I’m looking forward to Sunrise 2008.
