Organic or local?

You might think buying organic is a sure-fire way of saving the planet. Surprisingly, the produce in an organic lunchbox may have flown further than a conventional one. Just how much more?


The organic movement has successfully marketed themselves as the only alternative to factory farming. Small farmers who use some - but fewer pesticides and look after their animals carefully have lost their voice in British agriculture.

As more people buy organic produce the UK is unable to keep up with demand, meaning we now import large volumes of organic food. Many of you said you would rather buy local because you knew where it came from.
