Thirteen Senses were last in Somerset when they supported The Open at Moles in Bath in September.

Originally called Soul Magician, the Cornish four-piece are Will (piano/singer), Adam (bass), Tom (guitar) and Brendon on drums.

Compared to the likes of Keane and Coldplay, their sound has been described by The Fly magazine as "heartfelt choruses and brilliantly sweet melodies that leave scratch marks on your soul". Praise indeed!

Stadium-conquering

"Having supported The Charlatans, Embrace and Starsailor, it's only a matter of time until they fulfil NME's prophecy and start conquering stadiums."

Since getting together in 2001, Thirteen Senses certainly haven't hung about. Signing to Vertico/Mercury Records in 2003, they appeared on NME's Hot List soon after.

They've already got two Top 40 hit singles to their name. Do no Wrong was their first hit, and Into the Fire was Single of the Week on BBC Radio 1's Colin and Edith Show, as well as being play-listed by Radio 2.

Their debut album, The Invitation, was released in September to critical acclaim and reached number 1 in the BBC 6 Music album chart.

Having supported The Charlatans, Embrace and Starsailor, as well as appearing in session on Radio 1's Lamacq Live, 6 Music and performing at One Big Weekend in Birmingham, it seems it'll only be a matter of time until they fulfil NME's prophecy and start conquering stadiums.

New Rhodes

Gary Rhodes
New Rhodes - not Gary Rhodes!

Not to be confused with the Gary and Nick variety of Rhodes, this melodic garage rock band formed in 2001.

James (vocals and guitar), Jack (bass) and Joe (guitar) attended the same secondary school and sixth form college. Steve (drums) was recruited at the end of 2003 after a handful of gigs in the local area with an earlier drummer under the name The Rhodes.

Less than a year after they formed, they played two nights at Glastonbury on the Leftfield Stage.

Now signed to Moshi Moshi Records they haven't looked back, gigging furiously up and down the country as well as supporting the likes of Hope of the States, Delays, Bloc Party, The Killers and Razorlight.

They released their first single, I Wish I Was You, in August 2004 and have been getting good airplay on Radio 1. So, our advice is to catch them here first - before they start competing with Thirteen Senses in the stadium-conquering stakes!
