The band, who formed in the city in 2001, have been recently featured on both Radio One and digital station BBC 6 Music. A few line-up changes down the road, and a new record contract with Moshi Moshi Records saw the band move to London in 2003. A huge and demanding tour schedule ensued, with a full round of dates all around Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the republic. The UK leg saw them play the Barfly in London, along with dates in Cardiff, Nottingham and Cambridge. Most recently you may have seen the band supporting Delays at their Fleece & Firkin gig. They also supported Hope Of The States, the Futurehead and Razorlight on the South West leg of their UK tour. The Times reviewed their latest single release, and described it as “reminding you why you first fell in love with singles". New Rhodes’ rock music is well worth a listen, and the single worth picking up. Man Enough ... Elsewhere in the Bristol gigging world, one press release caught the eye of the team. Coming to the city this August, the “queen of transexual glam punk”, Jayne County. The singer, born Wayne, and raised near Dallas in Texas will be at the Bierkeller on Friday 27 August. Her most famous song is entitled **** Off, her autobiography is amusingly called Man Enough To Be A Woman. Bath’s Grand Rose Band will be in Bristol on Friday 13 August. They have been described as "a dark country, rock 'n' roll band of extreme proportions". The four members of the Bath-based band say their musical influences range from Bob Dylan, through Tom Waits, The Pogues, punk rock and country to Elvis Presley. Some mix!
