	SLC admitts it recently held discussions with the SEV that organises the SLPL

Upali Dharmadasa, the president of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) admitted it recently held discussions with the Singapore-based company that organises the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL).

"It does not mean that we are going to re-launch the SLPL soon," he told BBC Sinhala service, Sandeshaya.

The Indian cricket authorities last year banned Indian players in taking part in the SLPL fearing involvement of Lalit Modi, who is facing corruption charges.

'No interest'

Mr Modi as well as SLPL organiser, Sommerset Entertainment Ventures (SEV), have denied any involvement of Mr Modi.

Sri Lanka was forced to abandon the SLPL as a result of the ban by the Indian cricket board, the BBCI.

"India might have raised concerns before but we have talked to BCCI and settled all those issues," added Mr Dharmadasa.

The newly elected president of the SLC said all outstanding payments for the national cricket players will be paid before the end of the month after the sports minister secured Rs 600 million ($5 million) loan from Bank of Ceylon.

Sri Lanka national players were not paid for months as a result of SLC’s financial crisis since co-hosting the World Cup (WC) together with India and Bangladesh.

Mr Dharmadasa said there will be no interest payment to the state-owned BoC, as the SLC expects a steady income from future tours of the Sri Lanka team, as well as the outstanding payment of $3 million from the ICC for co-hosting the WC.

The SLC president added all outstanding the salaries of the SLC workers will also be paid as soon as possible.
